Dr. Paula Show: Re-Airing Interview with Dr. Bill Galanter

The Dr. Paula Show will be re-airing our interview with Dr. Bill Galanter, M.D on Tuesday, September 6th at 11 AM. The show will feature discussions about IT solutions related to medical safety.

Dr. Galanter is a practicing primary care physician, educator and health services researcher. He teaches a range of topics from specific chronic disease management li ke Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus, to classes on how to read papers appropriately, how and when to use medications and 1 on 1 mentoring in how to talk to patients. He has appointments in both the colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy.

He is the chair of our health systems Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and the Senior Associate Health Information Officer. He is the physician point person for medication use and medication safety. He designs and implement health IT solutions to medication safety.

His research and curricular development centers on appropriate medication use, from the education of clinicians in how and when to use pharmacologic therapy, to designing computer interventions to prevent and detect errors, to improving educational materials for patients.
