Flight gone wrong: Flight 370

Next stop: Beijing, China. Right?

Wrong.

Flight 370. Everyone’s heard of the Malaysian airline that has been missing for the past 8 days now.  The question is, what happened?

There are several scenarios that could have happened, but with the little information we have, it is hard to tell what happened.

I did some research on CNN’s website and they actually had 4 scenarios of what could have possibly happened to the flight.

One possibility could be that there was a mechanical failure: Air traffic controllers in Subang, outside Kuala Lumpur, lost contact with the plane over the sea between Malaysia and Vietnam. Some experts say that if  there was a power or electrical problem and if the plane flew for more than hour, it would have been impossible for the plane to fly.

A second possibility could be that the plane has been hijacked: We know for a fact that the plane stopped sending identifying transponder codes before it disappeared. John Goglia, a former U.S. National Transportation Safety Board member states, “A pilot would not do that. Somebody that didn’t want to be seen very well would do that.”  Is it possible that a hijacking occurred on this flight?

A third possibility could be that it was a pilot error or even pilot sabotage? Police have searched the pilot’s house and tried to find out some information leading to the missing plane.  A key point that led to investigators to believe that it was a deliberate act was the timing of the signal failures. “The plane’s transponder signal ended more than 10 minutes before the plane’s messaging system failed.” With such a big gap, it is very unlikely that this was a “sudden” event.

Lastly, was it a terrorist attack?:  Authorities found out two Iranian men who were on the same flight used stolen passports from Thailand.  “Interpol identified the men using the stolen passports as Pouri Nourmohammadi, 18, and Delavar Seyed Mohammad Reza, 29”.  As of now, investigators have not found any debris of the plane, indicating a bomb blast, so was it a terrorist attack gone wrong?

I pray for the families going through this and hopefully we find out more information soon.
