Top 10 Shows to Watch

Hello everyone!! I hope you guys are doing well and midterms were not too rough! Today, I will share my top 10 favorite shows that I think are worth watching (in no specific order). Now, let's begin...




  1. Shameless


This one is a popular show that was filmed right here in Chicago. Shameless is a dark comedy-drama, that focuses on an unstable family of 6 that has to fend for themselves. This is due to Frank Gallagher, an alcoholic single father who frequently ignores his six children and a mother who ran away from the family since the start! Due to the dysfunctional and unfit parents, the eldest daughter Fiona Gallagher is forced to play the mom and dad role.




  1. Dexter


Dexter is a crime drama that focuses on a forensic blood spatter analyst who works for the Miami Metro Police Department, who also lives a double life as a serial killer. Dexter was adopted by a father who was a beloved cop. His father has taught Dexter a moral code, that helps Dexter get away with his killings, as well as justify them. The show also highlights how Dexter takes advantage of the police department in order to satisfy his dark side.




  1. Good Girls


Good Girls is a dark comedy series that focuses on three suburban mothers who run into financial difficulties. Thus, they decide to rob a nearby grocery shop in order to make ends meet, but when a violent crime leader notices the heist, they realize they've gotten into more trouble than they bargained for.




  1. Malcolm in the Middle


Malcolm in the Middle is a comedy series that focuses on a dysfunctional middle-class family, with a gifted son who navigates his life, overwhelmed by his disorderly household that includes Hal the father, Lois the mother, and his three brothers Reese, Dewey, and Francis. This series explores numerous humorous situations as well as the challenges of growing up.




  1. Bob's Burgers


Bob's Burgers is an animated sitcom that focuses on Bob Belcher, his wife Linda, and their three kids Tina, Gene, and Louise. As Bob deals with having the ownership of a not-so-popular burger shop, he also navigates his life with misadventures and strange patrons!




  1. 2 Broke Girls


2 Broke Girls is a sitcom that centers on Caroline Channing, a former filthy rich girl who lost her fortune due to her dad's arrest. She moves to Brooklyn and ends up meeting Max Black, a hard-working waitress. They bond over their financial hardships and work together to launch a cupcake business.




  1. American Horror Story


American Horror Story is a horror series where each season explores diverse themes of horror and paranormal activities. The show incorporates dark comedy and most importantly, psychological horror. Each season comes with a different story, but all play together hand and hand.




  1. Superstore


Superstore is another sitcom comedy that is set in a big box store called Cloud 9. This show focuses on a diverse collection of workers that explores a range of societal themes such as relationships, corporate culture, and class fights, as they negotiate the difficulties of their day jobs.




  1. Ginny & Georgia


Ginny and Georgia is a comedic and drama show that centers on Ginny Miller, a bright yet insecure teen, and Georgia Miller, her mom with a lively personality yet a difficult and long past. Ginny and Georgia, and the young son Austin, move to a new town for a fresh new start. Yet, as Ginny navigates her new life in a new town, she also starts to uncover her mother's horrific past.




  1. Orange Is the New Black


Orange Is the New Black is another comedy and drama series that is centered on Piper Chapman who was sent to prison for a little bit over a year for a crime that she committed ten years prior. Piper meets a diverse collection of prisoners, each with their own difficulties and backstories, as she makes her way through life behind bars
