This weekend I attended an awesome show case in celebration of

Sound Culture’s 5 year anniversary/ official party of CIMM fest (Chicago International Movies and Music). Both floors of Subterranean were taken over exposing great latin ska, afro punk and electronic vibes! Artist included headliner from Quebec’s Boogat, local band Los Vicios de Papa and Esso Afrojam Funk Beat. Downstairs there was Soulphonetics, FEX and Las Selectas.

So a little background, (off their mission statement)  Sound Culture is an independent presenter of cultural music. They make performances by World artists possible here in the city of Chicago. They make efforts to promote and celebrate ethnic diversity and foster multicultural understanding through music. Chicago Tribune has called them “Chicago’s savviest cultural players”. They have been do this since 2009 and have presented to date over 300 live programs of World Music and Jazz in over 20 venues around Chicago from artists representing over 40 countries.
