21 Savage's The American Dream Tour : On The Grid

Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, also known as 21 Savage, recently visited Chicago for his stop on his "The American Dream" tour. Titled after his newest album, American Dream, it is based on 21's experience in the United States, coming from a family and a mother who immigrated from London. The tour has support from artists 21 Lil Harold, Nardo Wick, and JID, all of whom are upcoming and have had a lot of success in the future of their careers.

21 Lil Harold opens the tour with a quick set; he's a 30-year-old rapper from Atlanta, Georgia, and he's signed to 21 Savage's label Slaughter Gang Entertainment. He raps a short 5 songs, which include.

Nardo Wick has had a couple of breakthrough songs, such as Who Want Smoke??, which was released in 2021 with 21 Savage and Chicago native rappers Lil Durk and G Herbo. He comes out with a DJ and a bright red outfit that stands out, along with his sparkly chain.

His setlist includes

The main opening act is JID, another Atlanta-based rapper. I had the pleasure of seeing him in 2019 on tour with Logic when he was still a pretty small rapper, but now he has a much better stage presence and a hit song titled "Surround Sound" that was used all over TikTok and went viral. During "One in the Head," JID brought out G Herbo and 21 Lil Harold to sing the song with him as surprise guests.

His setlist includes

  1. NEVER

  2. Off da Zoinkys

  3. Raydar

  4. Dance Now

  5. Crack Sandwich

  6. Workin Out

  7. Sundown (with 21 Lil Harold)

  8. One In The Head (with 21 Lil Harold Feat. G Herbo)

  9. Down Bad (Dreamville cover)

  10. Costa Rica (Dreamville cover)

  11. 151 Rum

  12. Stick (Dreamville cover)

  13. Surround Sound

Finally, 21 Savage, the main act, comes out. He starts the concert with his mother's poem. His mother ends the opening track by stating, “The mission is as it’s always been, for my son to become a man and live free in his American Dream.”

He has a setlist with various songs that all fans will recognize and love, such as "Jimmy Cooks" ft. Drake, "Ball W/o You," "Rockstar (Post Malone Cover)," "a lot," and "redrum."

Overall, this concert was an absolute blast. It truly showed the range of rap and artists alike, the diversity in the crowd, the way that fans were excited the whole time, and the energy was unforgettable. This concert cannot be expressed in words of how enjoyable and fun it was. Definitely go check out all the artists, and if there is a tour date near you, don't miss out on a great night.
