Hello!!!! Another required blog for all DJs means I get to talk here again! Last time I wrote about the album Pornography by The Cure! (A really good post punk and gothic rock album, i strongly recommend everyone to listen to at least once!). This time, I’m going to go over my 5 favorite songs of February and what I think of them!
1 - Hazey Jane I - Nick Drake
There's something about Nick Drake’s music that just feels so warm. This song feels like how it feels to take a walk in the summer. You can almost feel the sun radiating from this song. Just overall a gorgeous song. (I also wanted to include an image from Nick Drake’s Last.fm Page, that sums up how I feel about Nick Drake better than I could probably ever try to put into words.

2 - Fell in love at 22 - Starflyer 59
Just an overall beautiful song. It’s a more shoegaze-y type of song, slow and almost reminds me of how you’d envision what a memory would sound like. I recently listened to the full album of where this song comes from (The Fashion Focus, 1998) and it fit perfectly with the album as a whole. I heavily recommend Starflyer!
3 - Big Time Sensuality - Björk
The locking in song. The song of all time honestly (Also tied with human behavior / There's more to life than this). I recently relistened to Björk’s Debut and Vulniculra and all I got out of it was that I became a bigger Bjork fan. I’m quite normal about it. I also listened to this song about 15 times while studying for 2 of my midterm exams, so I hope that helped(?).
4 - Grounded (Live at Manchester, 1999) - Pavement
A gorgeous live rendition of my favorite song on Wowwee Zowwee! I recently went down a Pavement live show rabbit hole! There was a live show around 1999-2000 where… Stephen Malkmus was just.. Carried off stage for no reason? And you can hear him in the recording going ‘’No! Nononono!’’ like that? I don’t have context for it. At all. Anyways good song
5 - Famous Blue Raincoat - Leonard Cohen
I actually have just now only listened to Songs of Love and Hate after almost 2 years of "yeah, I’ll get to that later’’. Just a beautifully sad song that fits in with the other 8 songs perfectly. I’m still unsure why it took me so long to get to listening to this album (and Leonard Cohen in general!). If anyone else is stalling on listening to Leonard Cohen, please let this be your reminder to actually start listening to him (please).
That is all I have for my top 5 favorite songs! Thank you for reading x)
