A Black Girl's Guide to Autumn🍂🤎

Happy early Fall guys! Technically the first day of Fall isn't until September 22nd, but once the "ber" months start it's officially Fall to me. While Winter is my favorite season and I would NEVER cheat on her, there truly is a certain magic that lives within the Fall season. The weather starts to chill, the leaves start to change color, and the air just feels crisp. I love this time of year because it can be a nice symbol for growth in many areas. Since the weather is getting colder it's time to impliment more jackets and sweaters into our outfits. I don't know about you but I LOVE Fall fashion.

The season changing is a perfect time for us to do some evaluation as well whether it be internal or external. With the changing season I would like to discuss some of the things I will be bringing into this 2026 Fall season. I call it my: Black Girl's Guide to Autumn! Let's get started.

  1. Wardrobe

One of Fall's best qualities is that it allows you to wear layered clothing without getting too hot throughout the day. If you are trying to figure out your style I think Fall is the perfect time to experiment. Here is my (very specific) Fall '26 Lookbook:

  • Jean Jackets

  • Lace tanks/camis under shirts and sweaters

  • BELTS (I love to layer my belts but you would be surprised what a simple belt does for your outfits)

  • Comfortable footwear (my Fall rotation would be my UGG Lowmels and a cute pair of black boots)

  • Leg Warmers

  • Baker Hats !!

  1. Makeup

I maintain the opinion that the colder months are the best time to do a full beat because you won't sweat it off like you would in the Summer. Of course you should do whatever makeup suits you and helps you express yourself the best, but if you are looking for specific looks allow me to offer my services.

  • Get a good bronzer! (Bronzer is such an underrated makeup step that elevates your look. If you have darker skin and are worried about getting into bronzer my advice is experiment! There for sure is a shade out there that works for you, and remember a little goes a long way)

  • Layer your blush (Blush colors such as orange, red, or purple look divine on dark skin during the Fall. A good way to make sure that your blush lasts is to apply liquid first then go over it again with powdered blush... trust me)

  • Eyeliner (Something about Fall just screams sharp eyeliner to me. Experiment on your eye shape and do what suits you best!)

  • MASTER YOUR LIP COMBO (Nothing else to say for this... GET THAT LIP COMBO do not have dry lips this Fall...)

  1. New Hairstyles !

Time to get rid of that Summer protective style (if you haven't already lol) and pick your next look for Fall. If you are a natural girly then Fall is a great time to let your hair down! If you are into more protective styles now is the perfect time. Whether it be a new style of braids, an afro, or a lace front just make sure your hair stays moisturized once the weather gets dry!

  1. Comfort Movies/Shows

The last couples months of the year are absolutely perfect for curling up with a snack and watching a comfort show. Since Fall also encompases Halloween that opens up a WHOLE new door of possibilities for movie night. Here are some of my favs that I 100% WILL be rewatching this Fall:

  • Gilmore Girls

  • Sex & The City (I rewatch this year round BUT I'll take a new excuse just to watch it again)

  • Harry Potter (A mustttt)

  • The Hunger Games (And since the newest movie is coming to theaters this November the timing is perfect. If you haven't watched The Hunger Games consider this a homework assignment 😉)

  • When Harry Met Sally (Genuinely one of the best romance films ever)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Studying...

I hate to admit this but Fall really is the perfect season for locking in and studying for classes. Unfortunetly with the Fall/Winter season approaching that also means midterms and finals are coming up (sorry to remind you), BUT nothing a cafe study crawl can't fix! Grab your coffee, friends, and laptops and get to studying!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you guys so much for reading this week's blog! I am SO happy that the best time of the year (Winter) is coming up, but since we are currently in the second best time of the year (Autumn) I figured it was only right to write a blog at the start of the season.

I hope that you guys had a great beginning of your week and that the weekend is even better!

With Love Always,

~ Side Note, xoxo !💋
