A break from the repetitiveness

I don’t know about you, but for me, with all the holiday shopping and being in stores for hours collectively throughout the month, I get pretty sick of hearing the same sounding Christmas songs over, and over, and over. Granted, there are only so many Christmas songs in the world, but when they all have similar sounds/instruments/voices, I feel so irritated and rather Scrooge-y.

So, to relieve myself of the Scroogeyness (and potentially yours, too) I provide to you some of my favorite Christmas song covers.

Bright Eyes – ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfeKLSjSxL0 From his Christmas album, this cover is really soft, and with Conor Oberst’s vocals really puts me in that peaceful Christmas mood (although it may be a little sad sounding at times…)

My Chemical Romance – ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8rjrPIGZ5U A classic. One of my favorites since I was a preteen.

Lady Gaga & Joseph Gordon Levitt – ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Fx5L_dbf2Y This cover is rather new, as it just came out for the Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular for Thanksgiving. Since I first discovered it, it has become my favorite version of this song, especially because the roles of the man and the woman have been switched.

I hope these helped you escape your possible Scroogeyness (as they did mine) by breaking up the monotony of hearing the same Christmas songs. Know of any I missed? Feel free to share!
