Despite being a rookie in the WNBA, Paige Bueckers has already cemented herself as one of the best players to ever grace the court. From being named the youngest Gatorade Player of the Year to committing to one of the number one basketball programs in the country, Paige has always had her eyes set on the W.
To me, one of the best things about Paige is her support for her teammates. Throughout her years at UConn, she consistently ensured that they were taken care of. Paige was known for breaking the glass with NIL deals for college athletes, or name, image, likeness. Despite being the best in the league, she ensured that her teammates received the recognition they deserved by helping them secure deals with major companies like Madison Reed, Nike, and Tru Fru. While UConn has always been well-known in the world of basketball due to alumni like Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, and Maya Moore, Paige has won over a new generation of basketball fans not only to UConn but also to the W.
One of the more well-known aspects of Paige's life is her relationship with her college and Team USA teammate, Azzi Fudd. Meeting in 2017, the two have been close friends ever since, especially after Paige recruited Azzi to UConn in 2021. Seeing the two play together is absolute magic. Paige has a high basketball IQ to know how to set up a play and pass, while Azzi has one of the most beautiful shots in the league. There has been some speculation that Azzi will win the first draft pick, which would land her on Paige's current team, the Dallas Wings. That would literally change my life, so they better be playing together again.
Paige's most recent adventures have been featured in the media before she heads to Miami to play for the Breeze Club under the Unrivaled league alongside Kate Martin and Cameron Brink. Considering Paige should have gone to play for the LA Sparks, I'm excited to finally see her play with Cameron Brink.
