A Play-Filled May

Use your imagination, get silly with it, and have fun!
Revive a game from your childhood
I am particularly fond of some sort of hide and seek. Sardines is a great example.
Have dessert first
The warmer it gets, the more likely I am to consume copious amounts of ice cream. Feel free to replace ice cream with chocolates, candies, or even sweet fruits.
Go on color walks
I am a big fan of noticing things in the mundane, and there is no better way to notice more of the world around you than going on a color walk. The goal is to try to make your way through the rainbow. Look for the color red, then orange, then yellow, and so on. Repeat the rainbow until you get bored.
Make clay magnets
Polymer clay is your best friend. Bake your creations in the oven, then hot-glue magnets to the back to make adorable fridge art.
Play car games
In my family, the license plate game and 20 questions are favorites.
Invest in a puzzle
When was the last time you personally purchased a puzzle? Probably not recent enough. Find what fits your vibe and consider getting it framed after. I love framing physical objects.
Find a fairy spot
As a child, I would envision whole fairy villages in flowers and the crooks of trees. Any pile of moss was obviously a fairy mattress waiting for its owner to return from a bumblebee race. Look around your environment and find the little, tiny respites a fairy might occupy.
Learn a dance
I am a sucker for some choreography. You can take a class locally, but I enjoy taking the time to learn one perfect sequence on my own
Keep whimsy on your person
If you stay ready, you do not have to get. I am seconds away from purchasing a tiny digital camera keychain just for the whimsy of it all.
Host a show and tell
Invite some people over and have them bring one keepsake from their home, something special to them, and with a story. Go around in a circle and share why it is important to you. Serve snacks and drinks too!
Watch a childhood classic
Some movies that I loved as a child are The Princess Diaries, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, and Fantasia.
Ask yourself, “What would be the most fun way to do this?”
Instead of what would be the quickest way. Efficiency is the enemy of silliness.
Enjoy your May!
With love,
Kierstyn
