Add-2 is known for his tracks such as “Luxury” and “Rings and Crowns”. His mixtapes “One Missed Call” and “More Missed Calls” are dope works of his art. Add’s thought provoking lyrical flow over soulful beats, fiery delivery and energy should not be overlooked by lovers of real hip hop. Or maybe you’re more familiar with the phrase “Jamla Is The Squad”… When you have rapper Halo, femcee Rapsody, and Grammy Award winning hip hop producer 9th Wonder as your squad… “Jamla Is The Squad ” is not just a quote, but the truth on so many levels.
Jamla recording artist Add-2 performed at the House of Blues Chicago along with Chicago artist, producer and DJ, Slot A last week along with a live band. Add breaks out on to the stage with his single “Almighty Add-2” showing why he lives up to his name. He follows that number up with “One Of Them Girls”, having the crowd bounce to the hook “Oh! So you one of them girls…” The Chicago native’s vibrant energy on stage is infectious and undeniable. Slot A jumps in lighting the stage up with his verse. Their styles compliment each other, showing they make a dynamic duo. “Cotton Fields” is a soulful and conscious track he performs along with local solo artist Super Sohje. Her smooth vocals and ad libs are a good touch in driving this meaningful song home, into the hearts of listeners. They go back and forth, making jokes between each other and the audience in between songs. Even as it came to a close, the crowd was left asking and wanting for more! Safe to say, the stage was left ablaze.
Curious to know if Add has anything in the works… new album, new mixtape?? During the show, Add-2 announced “Prey For The Poor” is slated to drop spring 2015.
