Architectural Site Visit! - On The Grid
Hey guys! This week, I was able to visit an active construction site; as an architecture student, this was such a fun and immersive experience. Seeing how designs come to life and something that was just a drawing is now something you can see and touch in person, which is the entire reason why I chose architecture as my career. This new home is being built by Wrigley Field up north, and it's a completely new design that contrasts with the houses around it. It has four floors, an elevator, and a heated garage, to name a few features.

I’ve always found site visits more useful than looking at plans alone because you notice details that don’t really come across on paper. Seeing how materials, drainage, and exterior finishes are actually handled on site can change your perspective on the whole project. I’m also a big believer in checking the roof and other weather-exposed areas early rather than waiting for problems to show up.
