I’m finally back from Winter break to post my first blog of this year! And I’ve finally decided to name my blog Earworm, I thought it was cute since I like to talk all about music on here! For my first post of this year, I wanted to talk about some of my favorite artists that I’m hoping have a comeback this year! Whether they went on breaks, or maybe it’s just about that time for them to release a new project, I really hope to see an appearance from these artists. These artists are ranked in no particular order.
No. 1 - Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe is easily one of my favorite alternative/indie-rock artists. Her song writing and production abilities are truly unique to her. Also her vocals are very distinct and easily recognizable. It’s been almost 5 years since her last album Punisher released, with a few covers and small one-off releases here and there. And while she hasn’t been expanding her solo-career, shes very famously in a band with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker called boygenius and released an album called the record in early 2023. Even still, that album is two years old at this point, with the band announcing that they would be taking a break to focus on solo works. However, only Lucy Dacus recently came forward with her own solo album, with the other two members still not having any music on the way. This leaves some fans worried that Phoebe is losing interest in making music, but it’s also possible that her new project might just be taking a while. Regardless, all we can do is hope and pray that she will make a return this year.
No. 2 - Lana Del Rey

Lana has previously announced her new album The Right Person Will Stay later last year with a release date of May 21st, 2025. While I do believe that the album will come out this year, I am a little worried about the release date given Lana’s track record of postponing releases. I already talked about the album and what we know about it in another blog post, so check that out here if you want more information on it. Im holding out hope that we will get a single from the album sometime soon, so that we can start to get an idea of what the final product will look like. But for now, we just gotta be patient and wait.
No.3 - Olivia Rodrigo

After her 2023 album GUTS, Olivia has been quite busy and been on the road for her GUTS World Tour. She started touring early 2024 and only finished her final shows a few months ago. Not to mention that she also released Can’t Catch Me Now for the Hunger Games movie The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes that came out last year. That song was popular with her fans and did a good job at grabbing the general publics attention even though it was just a promotional song for the movie. After than, she released the deluxe version of GUTS titled GUTS spilled and released 4 previously released “hidden tracks” that were exclusive to different versions of the album on vinyl, plus a new additional song called so american, which was a new hit for her fans. Despite Olivia being so busy, I think there’s a good chance we might see her release a new project this year or being the promotion cycle for the next album. While that might end up being later in the year, I think it’s likely that we see a new song or two at some point.
No. 4 - Mitski

Mitski has been looming in the shadows for the past year and a half, leaving me wondering when she plans to release new music. She released an album in 2023 called The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We, which was an indie folk/country album. This was a huge contrast from her past works, which were mostly either indie-rock or alt-pop. Despite being such a departure from her more traditional sound, the album still really got my attention and got me listening to a genre that I usually avoid. It just emphasized her musicianship and songwriting so much more and made me curious to see what would be next. She went touring for the album in 2024 and concluded it a few months back, but she did appear as a feature on Katie Gavin’s debut album last year and will be a feature on Tamino’s upcoming album as well. Because of that, I’m wondering whether or not she plans to put out any more solo work anytime soon, considering shes been focusing on features recently. I hope to see her maybe come out with a new song this year, even if it’s not connected to any kind of album.
No. 5 - MUNA

MUNA is one of my favorite bands of this generation. They typically make pop or indie-pop, and I just love their lyrics and their production style is right up my ally. They haven’t released a new album since their self titled album in the summer of 2022. Since then, they released a standalone single called One That Got Away which was a hit among fans and is now one of their most popular songs. However, that song came out almost two years ago at this point and the band has given no indication whether or not there is any new music coming. I suspect that the band had to take a small hiatus so Katie Gavin, the lead singer, could focus on her debut album that released last year. Despite that, I’m holding out hope that we will get some sort of news about the band’s return in the near future.
No. 6 - Chappell Roan

CR2 is easily one of the most anticipated albums among pop artists right now. After Chappell had an incredibly successful year in 2024, all eyes have been on her. Many were suprised to find that the didn’t release a lot of music last year despite the surge in popularity. She released Good Luck. Babe!, which kickstarted her rise to fame in the first place, but after that she kind of went silent about new music except for singing unreleased songs at her concerts here and there, with no release for these songs in sight. She has two unreleased songs (that we know of) that we can maybe expect to come out this year. Because shes decided to play these songs, many people believe she’s preparing for another album rollout for this year. While I’m not sure whether or not that’ll happen, I am at least hoping for a new song or collaboration in the next year from her.
Wrapping Up
I could go on and on about all the artists I want to see this year, but the truth is there’s way too many of them for to go in depth about each of them. Last year was no doubt a great year for music, with most major artists releasing albums and EP’s last year. Im hoping that this year doesn’t dissapoint either, but I am also a bit worried about a lack of music because of all the releases last year. Anyways thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed what I had to say!
