Dancing on My Own!
Robyn's " Dancing on My Own" is a song that makes me feel like I can rule the world on my own. Getting out of a long-term relationship teaches you to be more alive with just yourself and grow in ways you never imagined. This isn't really a song about an ex; it's more about yourself and being okay being alone.
"Somebody said you got a new friend. Does she love you better than I can?"
Unlearning love is the hardest part of healing, and it doesn't help that men seem to make it look easy when they find someone new. Women tend to pour everything they have into a relationship, especially a long one. It's hard to watch someone move on that fast without taking it personally. But if they can move on that quickly, they probably were never built to stay, and none of what you gave them was wasted. It just wasn't meant for someone who couldn't hold onto it.
"Yeah, I know it's stupid, I just gotta see it for myself"
Denial. After four years, someone telling you "your ex has a new girl" doesn't feel real until you see it yourself. And weirdly, seeing it helps. It's easier to move on once you know they've fully moved on, once they're out there doing the same things you used to do together, just with someone else now.

"I'm right over here. Why can't you see me?
This one hits when you're still lingering, still not ready to watch them with someone new. You want them to know you see it, that they've moved on, that the promises didn't mean much after all. But the person they've become isn't someone you recognize anymore, so of course they don't recognize you either.
"I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the girl you're takin' home"
You gave it everything. Then it ends, and you're left as the girl who didn't make the cut, not because you weren't enough, but because you never really belonged in that house to begin with. Hard to feel welcomed somewhere you were never fully wanted.
"I keep dancing on my own"
Then comes the healing and the healed. Life is genuinely better single, and not crying before 9 a.m. is underrated. Love shows up in more forms than just a relationship, and there's a real reward in learning to enjoy your own company. Keep dancing on your own until someone actually earns the chance to sweep you off your feet. Until then, life is good. Look around. Notice what you already have, and enjoy it.
