Blog! Blog! Blog!

Does EVERYTHING Happen for a Reason??

I would like to start this blog off by saying that I am NOT delusional. I like to refer to myself as a "realist". I believe that we shouldn't be constantly trying to alter a situation to fit our own fantasy because this is how we get disappointed. Sometimes we just need to look at the events that shape our lives with a purely unbiased lens and take it at face value. I usually don't personally indulge in delusions, but I have encouraged my friends' delusions from time to time . For the most part though, if you want real hard hitting advice, I'm your girl.

With that being said, I've recently been talking to my friends Dani and Kiera about delusions and whether or not something "is a sign?!?!". Deep down I know that the things I'm experiencing probably aren't a sign, and if they are they might not be the exact signs I'm hoping for, but it does feel good to fantasize. Now, Dani isn't always an active participator in delusions, but she can be from time to time and when she does she REALLY DOES. This is one of the things that I love about her. Kiera on the otherhand interprets every little piece of information that I give her as a sign. I find her optimism to be extremely refreshing and comical. I will admit it has been fun to have girl talk and over analyze things while trying to interpret what sign it may mean or if there is a "specific theory" behind it; however deep down I know it's probably all in our heads.

This got me thinking about the famous quote: Everything Happens for a Reason. I think this phrase is something that we say to ourselves to help us make peace with something that happened in our lives. Do I believe that things happen for a reason? Of course. Do I believe EVERYTHING happens for a reason? That's debatable. I think your opinion on this phrase may vary depending on your religious beliefs. From my religious standpoint I would say yes, most (and maybe all) things happen for a reason. This phrase though has become such a common mantra that we often use it to belittle emotions or life experiences by covering them with an "Everything Happens for a Reason" sticker.

On the opposite side of this argument, I do believe that all things genuinely happen to us for a reason. I mean who wants to walk around believing that life has no structure or meaning? Sometimes losing your job, ending a relationship, or simply missing your bus can be happening to you for a greater deeper meaning, but other times you simply lost your job because you weren't that good of an employee (hate to say it). This may be a controversial opinion, but I think that trying to make sense of every little thing that happens to us may at times be pointless. Again, I do believe that things happen to us for specific reasons and sometimes it just takes us longer to figure that out. I also believe that people tend to look for signs everywhere when in reality there isn't one at all. This makes me wonder whether or not something was a true sign if you went out looking for it rather than it coming to you. I think as humans we crave closure, stability, and control so when something out of left field happens to us we quickly try to make sense of it and tie it to a deeper more pleasant meaning. The truth is: life can be very unpredictable.

As I'm finishing off this blog I realize that it may sound like I'm contradicting myself and honestly, yeah that's life. There are signs everywhere, but not every sign may be specifically for us or at least not in the way that we think. It's honestly a very interesting topic because there is no right or wrong answer. It simply comes down to what you believe. As someone who is now being introduced to the whimsical world of delusions, I can say that choosing to take something as a sign is fun and exciting! We should all be careful not to overanalyze everything that happens to us but yeah, there really is no harm in cute little delusions to make your day better!

Totally agreed with this, even after any minor inconveniences I find myself /others dwelling into this idea these signs (angel numbers, color , etc) are a sign of something coming. Maybe they are, maybe not, but I know I'll be ok at the end!!!

Keep blogging this is amazing!!
