Feb 1 = Jan 1?

Every New Years Eve I dream a little too big. I walk straight into the trapdoor of resolutions, naively believing I'll miraculously wake up a gym rat or finally fix my terrible screen time. My personal goals tend to be overly ambitious and borderline unattainable, turning them into words on paper instead of things to actually accomplish.

But recently, I've realized that goal-setting should be about progress, not dramatic and sudden changes. It's shouldn't be about checking off a box or reaching the trophy behind the finish line, but continuous growth.

So if you're like me and your January was a bit lackluster (to say the least), don't worry! It doesn't have to set the tone for your 2026.

I'm starting February with tons of energy, ready to make real changes to my routine. Not ones that will drain me, but ones that I know will last. Habits to build and grow until they become ingrained into my routine.

For example, this year I really want to get back into journaling. Writing down the goal is easy, and getting lost in other responsibilities is even easier. To make sure I stick to it, I forced it into my calendar by blocking out thirty minutes every day to write. If you're also struggling with these kinds of commitments, it helps to tie your goal into something that's already fixed in your routine. Like I have a cup of tea every evening, so I journal while I drink it to make sure I don't forget. It might sound simple, but it really helps!

If you're also struggling with your goals, just know that there isn't a 'right' time to start. January 1st is just a marker in time, and you can truly start making changes in your life whenever you want, even if it's a random day of the year.
