I Eat Ham on Thanksgiving...

Happy almost Thanksgiving break! I know I personally cannot wait until we are out for break. This of course, means that finals are almost here, but right now all I can think about is Thanksgiving food and time off of school.
The other day my mom asked me whether I would like ham or turkey for Thanksgiving, and I said ham (as my answer is every year). Whenever Thanksgiving comes around, my friends and I like to discuss whether or not we prefer to eat turkey or ham, and I enjoy this discussion every year. In honor of my growing anticipation (and hunger) for Thanksgiving, I thought I'd talk about why I prefer ham over turkey.
Let me preface this by saying, I am not a turkey hater, so please don't come for me. For as long as I can remember it's always been turkey for Thanksgiving. I can't remember the exact year that we switched to ham, but boy do I remember the meal. It was ham with a pineapple sauce/glaze on top. Now, if you do not like pineapples or are a "pineapple on meat hater", that is a discussion we simply do not have the time to get into, so I won't even bother.
I remember stacking my plate with ham alongside the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and all the other Thanksgiving staples. Since the first bite, and since that Thanksgiving, ham has always been served in my family. A couple of times, whenever we host Thanksgiving at our house, both turkey and ham are served as options, but the ham is always first to go. You may be wondering: Why though, do you prefer ham over turkey? It originally started because turkey to me seemed dry and bland. This of course, is all dependent on how the turkey is cooked and served, but until I had that pineapple ham, I didn't know what I was missing. Now, whenever I think of Thanksgiving food, ham is high on the list.
That my friends, is really the only reason why I prefer ham over turkey on Thanksgiving. There is no childhood trauma, no nail biting story, and no other explanation besides the fact that I like the taste more. With that being said, after a semester of eating dining hall food, I might eat both ham and turkey this Thanksgiving break just to cleanse my palate.
That is all for this week everybody! Bye for now!!
