Blog! Blog! Blog!

i spent an evening with pinkpantheress

PinkPantheress recently closed out a SOLD OUT two night residency at the Aragon Ballroom this past weekend, and I was fortunate enough to have nabbed a ticket to the Sunday night show, and honestly, this is a contender for the best concert I've been to this year!

Me and my sister got in line at around 5:15 pm, doors opened at 6, and the show started at 7, since it was a Sunday and everyone has work or school in the morning. I saw a lot of people online saying to get there 2 hours early and that it takes forever to get in, but honestly it didn't take that long, we got in at around 6:15, I guess that's because we got there 2 hours before the show started. Outside of the venue, for the concertgoers, there were 2 hot dog stands with signs that read "fancy some hotdogs?", the hotdogs were free for the concertgoers!!! This genuinely blew me away, I have never ever been to a concert or waited outside for a concert where the artist's team was giving out free food, that was such a cute touch. I finished my hot dog in two bites, as the line was moving fast.

We got into the venue, Aragon security is always worse than TSA, whatever. The merch spread was alright, I bought a shirt for my sister after the concert, because we went up immediately to try and get a good spot, and me, my sister, my friend megan, and her sister got to be directly in the middle. I had an amazing view, as I was genuinely the tallest person at that concert (thank god im 6 feet). The opener, Nick Cheo, came on at 6:45, 15 minutes before the show was actually supposed to start. I knew Nick Cheo from his silly mashups of songs on Instagram and TikTok (which is what got him famous), and that's basically what his set was. I remember he mashed up Better Off Alone with Bow Bow Bow by Sexyy Red. That was pretty fire. Oh yeah, he also brought out Adamn Killa, which night 1 didn't get, automatically making night 2 the better night (sorry if you went for night 1).

Nick also brought out his dad and they danced on stage to Lose Yourself by Eminem, which I thought was a very cute moment.

Nick's set lasted until about 7:45, and then right at 8, Pinkpantheress came on, opening with a very bright light show and Stateside. Her set was amazing. All of her best songs, new and old, mixed together for an hour and a half long set, complete with choreographed dance numbers, flashy costume changes, and a 60s variety show-themed stage that was incredibly well done. Pinkpantheress has always had good set production, when I saw her during the Heaven knows tour at the Metro, the set production was also very good, but this had to have been the most well-crafted set for a concert that wasn't at an arena that I've ever seen.

I mean, just look at the red pillars, the DJ on the left, the drummer on the right, and steps in the middle for Pink and her backup dancers to perform on, it was so cute!

The show ended around 9:30, after that it was time to attempt to go down the Aragon stairs to leave the venue and get merch. Getting out of the Aragon after a concert is a horrible experience, if you know you know, but the merch line only took 5 minutes, so not too bad! Overall, this concert was soooooo good, and it might take the top spot for best concert I've been to this year so far, but we still have about 2 months left in the year, and a few more concerts to go.
