A weekend ago I had the opportunity to see Tres Channel and Kaytranada playing at the Huntington Bank Pavillion. I had never heard of the opener’s music (came in very blindly) but was expecting somewhat of a hip-hop and dance genre. I thoroughly enjoyed his stage presence as he got the crowd’s energy up for the next act. This was also a first for seeing a hip-hop artist include all-male dancers included in his set. The visuals were not too chaotic and very unique. I loved the graphic design and detail of the visuals, especially the contrasting red background with black text.
I came into the show with no expectations as to what the crowd would look like but everyone seemed to be kind to each other and vibe out to a nice “oontz oontz” to start off the summery weekend. It was a nice little closing to my end of the summer for sure.
Kaytranada enduced a smooth and entrancing intro, not too upbeat yet but still getting his audience on their toes. I enjoyed his stage presence throughout his set and he was super engaging and spoke briefly in the middle about how he thrived off visiting the city. It was fun to hear a bit of Beyonce’s track from the Renaissance album being brought to the set. He does not come to play about his unique and vivid blends of R&B and electronic house. Safe to say that when Kaytranada comes to visit your city, you don’t want to miss out!
