It's that time of year again folks... the Spotify Wrapped has been released! As radio members and music lovers, there is nothing we love more than opening Spotify and seeing our wrapped ready for us. It is both a trip down memory lane of the past year and a justification that your music taste is in fact, elite. And so, when Angel Olsen came up as my top artist of the year, I was not surprised. However, I must admit, finding out just how dedicated I am to her craft did make me feel a little bit cool. Since I had so much fun writing about Angel Olsen's debut EP, I have decided to write about her again. Both as a tribute to her impeccable discography and an excuse to show my love for her, because she deserves all of the praise in the world.
Acrobat
Nobody does yearning like Angel Olsen. Her lyrics are exquisite. With lines like, “To be the whisper upon your ear- I want to be the bed you miss", the listener can almost feel the tactile elements of her desire. The focus on small, intimate details makes desire tangible. It's felt in the body and experienced in proximity. She is so emotionally honest, and I commend her for that. “I want to be made out of love. I want to be made into life." Just kill me now, Angel. She has this amazing ability to cut your heart open with her words, and then soothe you with her soft, angelic voice. Her name is fitting.
Chance
This song is about the complexities between desire and fear. Whenever I hear it, my body starts to physically ascend. She creates a sort of tension between pain and beauty, which is what makes her work feel so visceral. I can't get enough. I could lie in bed and listen to this song all day. Just do yourself a favor and go experience it, please. You'll leave feeling somewhat hopeful... I think.
Fly On Your Wall
“A love never made is still mine. If only real in my mind." Like so true Angel, thank you for reaffirming my delusions! Once again, she gives us a work of art surrounding the state of desire. However, she portrays it in a realistic way. It's tentative, complicated, and often feels impossible. Despite its unattainability, we cling to these feelings anyway. We would rather stay in this state of wanting than to risk the possibility that fantasy is better than reality.
The Waiting
GET OUT OF MY HEAD ANGEL OLSEN. This was my third most-played song of 2025, and rightfully so. There is nothing I know better than waiting. She found a way to take a familiar feeling and emulate it into an absolute banger. But don't let the upbeat nature of the song fool you, it will still make you emotional.

Here is an Angel Olsen starter pack (you're welcome):
