Cultural Crossfade is one of UIC Radio's newest DJ shows. Hosted by DJ ZØP, the show aims to bridge cultural differences by mixing songs from different genres, showing that they are actually more similar than they are different. The mixing is done live on a Numark DJ Controller and is often accompanied by a brief script introducing the artists and genres of music. To date, the show has held 6 episodes featuring special guest DJs and mixing multiple different genres. One of his most notable guests, DJ Amaika, was featured on episode 1. Amaika is a social media influencer/DJ whose unique style features hyperpop mixed with experimental. She has created a name for herself online and hopes to continue her DJ journey by performing at some live gigs this summer. Another prominent guest featured was DJ Paki. Paki's style is also unique, DJing on a Serato vinyl record player and incorporating lots of SoundCloud remixes into his sets. He has already garnered some attention, having secured a couple live gigs after his feature on the show. There's no telling where these two DJs are headed, but the future sure is looking bright for both of them. Bringing it back to the host DJ ZØP, ZØP has explored numerous genres on these shows, including rap, Spanish, and EDM, often mixing between one or two. Additionally, he's put out videos of some of his favorite transitions on TikTok, which has drawn some attention towards his name. Overall, he hopes to continue DJing on his radio show and putting out videos on TikTok, continuing to see where this journey will take him.
