My First Annual Chicago Bears Season Prediction
I have only truly started watching the Chicago Bears regularly since last year's season (which is for the best, if I had watched them the first couple years I lived in Chicago instead of my old team, the Chiefs, I probably would've gone insane) in which new head coach Ben Johnson took Caleb Williams and company into a record year, notching off Da Bears' first playoff win in 15 years, and first playoff win against Green Bay since FDR was president. Thus, with my very limited knowledge of how football works, I figured I'd make a very novice prediction of their season this year.
Weeks 1-4:
We already know the result of the Week 1 game, in which the Carolina Panthers put up a good fight, but the Bears ultimately dropped 59 points in a stunning victory defying all known statistics. Week 2 against the Vikings, who already have lost their starting QB Kyler Murray to injury. should go smoothly, as should a game against the Jets, but the Philadelphia Eagles are always good and while I think the Bears will prevail, it'll be close.
Weeks 4-8:
I think the Bears will have their first difficulties here: as much as we wish the Bears will obliterate the Packers every time they meet, I think early season growing pains, as well as more of the Packers being healthy this time, will give the Bears some issues. Plus, playing the SB runner-up and winner back to back will be difficult, too; we could possibly beat New England, but I'm wagering on a narrow loss since both the Patriots and Seahawks have strong defensive cores (Seattle's might be the best in the league, even with the Rams' less than successful attempts to replicate it).
Weeks 9-13:
The Bears will likely recover momentum here with easy wins against Tampa Bay, New Orleans, and Jacksonville, though Detroit might be rough & could go either way...
Weeks 13-18
Ending the season, the Bears will go back to playing rivals, and while I can definitely see the Bears recover their record against Green Bay after settling into the rhythm of the season, I think the strong offence of Buffalo and Detroit will overwhelm the Bears' defense, which seems a little softer than last years'.
Playoffs: While I wish the Bears could win the Super Bowl every year, let's be realistic; even if they can replicate their breakout success last year, they have more obstacles to overcome than just Micah Parsons this time. I think this year, the Bears can make it further than they did last year; they have far more offensive potential. However, I just can't see them overcoming the Dark Side, the foreboding Seattle defense that won last year's rings, and while they'll put up a good fight for the NFC championship, I can't see them winning it. In unrelated matters, the AFC this year will look a lot more like the olden days of the early 2020's where the Chiefs, Bengals, Ravens and Bills are much more feared, though I see the Ravens prevailing to reach the AFC championship. As for the winner of Super Bowl 61, that's up to you, dear viewer.
