Olivia Dean Era

Grammy-nominated Olivia Dean just took the SNL stage, and it was pure magic! Her soulful, jazz-infused tracks feel like falling in love all over again, whimsical, deeply meaningful, and effortlessly beautiful. After this incredible debut, her Best New Artist nod is feeling more deserved than ever. Obsessed is an understatement.

I am going to share a few of her favorite songs that I love.

So Easy (To fall in love)

This song is so beautiful. The part that goes "Perfect mix of Saturday night and the rest of your life". Because falling in love is spending time, forever, and never getting tired of them. Honestly, falling in love is so magical, especially in the beginning, because of all the flustering.

Baby Steps

This song screams hopeless romantic. It is so sad, but it also captures the importance of being independent. She embraces being alone by saying, "It'll be me turning on those lights when I come home, but I'll manage." The song is seen as a reflection of the shift towards women celebrating their singleness and building a full life on their own terms.

Man I need

This TikTok-famous song is also one of my favorites. This is a girlboss song because she is literally asking to be loved and asking a man to be the man she needs. Her performance of this song on SNL was outstanding, with her dancing and the outfit. It all tied in together.

Lady Lady

This song captures the bittersweet reality of personal evolution, where we are always getting used to a version of ourselves only for life (the "Lady Lady") to rearrange us again. When she sings, "God, I'm gonna miss this house, but I guess I'm moving out," it’s a beautiful metaphor for leaving behind an old, comfortable version of yourself.

So, everyone should listen to her right now! She's amazing, and I hope she grows on you the way she did with me!
