Serving and Sounds For You

Soup Du Jours: Sunday! Hello, I’m Sam, and this is today’s serving, the first of many to come. “What exactly is this about?”, you may be wondering. Sunday Soup is a blend of everything and anything from my favorite or new music and my wide variety of film choices to unnecessarily deep, word-vomiting topics and wanna-be journalistic pieces. To end your, hopefully, amazing weekend, have your daily dose of liquid satisfaction with me!
To start off strong, and to give you a taste of my music taste, I recommend Khalid’s after the sun goes down. It is his fourth studio album, and I believe it is his strongest release since his debut single ‘Location’. It has a wide range of emotions and storytelling within each track’s lyrics.
If you’re looking for something bold and dance-worthy, ‘out of body’ is just for you. To me, the intro sounds like ‘Buttons’ by the Pussycat Dolls, and I was immediately hooked. The music video’s dark and club-like scenery painted the perfect picture. Although the rhythm is more upbeat and doesn’t have the R&B tones that the previous song does, ‘instant’ is a triple-threat with its beautiful lyrics, care-free and optimistic emotion, and dancing all wrapped in one.
Are you pining for someone or something? In need of love songs? Do you want something that could be on the soundtrack of a coming-of-age movie? Allow your ears to be blessed and your imagination to roam free with the ultimate package of ‘yes no maybe’, ‘medicine’, ‘whenever you’re gone’, and ‘angel boy’. This quartet is guaranteed to wiggle its way into your playlist or the on-loop section of your mind.
With these specific recommendations, don’t ignore the rest. There’s a song for everyone!
I hope you enjoyed this short, but sweet entry for this Sunday. Please come back for more next weekend, the more the merrier, and familiar faces will always have a seat with me. Thank you for reading Sunday Soup!
