Short Introduction to My Bookshelf

This semester I decided to dedicate myself to a Very Long reading list (on top of my class reading, don't ask why I did this). And it is halfway through the semester so lets see some of the things I've been reading.
Children of Dune
This one is a carry over from the summer, I finished Messiah (the previous book) this past spring and I did really like it but I don't know, Children of Dune is slogging for me. It's interesting, when my favorite character (Alia Atreides) is around, but after that I haven't hit the part where things happen quite yet. A lot of what is happening so far is plotting, scheming, and souls of the dead. I've put it to the side momentarily while I read other stuff but I'll probably pick it up this winter.
Film India: Looking Back (1896-1960)
This is one I just picked up from Myopic like two weeks ago and it's honestly great. I'm currently in the pre-sound section, something I know nothing about, so I'm having a lot of fun with it. It's a decently pocket-sized book so I kinda just carry it around with me in case I get some free time to read. A lot of the books on this list are about Indian Cinema, like my bookshelf is basically Indian Cinema 101. I like this book because it also relates a lot of the ideas to modern(ish) Indian cinema, which leans to a more Mass Production Masala Feel Good genre though in the beginning was more akin to filmed (Parsi) theater.
Boys in the Band
This one is technically the stage script/screenplay (they were functionally identical in this case) but I'm still reading it. I picked it up at Dawntreader in Ann Arbor, Michigan for all those Michiganders out there. I watched both film adaptations within the past year or so and I've gotta say, it should be landmark for gay people. The story of like 6 homosexual men in 1960s New York, delving into a very specific cultural context that is just really cool to watch. I picked up the screenplay to try and get some inspiration for my own filmmaking.
I do have many more books in my dorm, from Phantom of the Opera to Silmarillion, and a fun Godard. But unfortunately most of them are going to be unopened till Winter break, unless all my professors stop assigning reading.
