Songs for Silent Hill Characters

It's that time of the year where Silent Hill haunts me in my dreams. My favorite horror game series as it explores dark themes and overall has a beautiful aesthetic. I just did my radio show of my Silent Hill playlist, but I enjoy the series so much I wanted to share more. The soundtrack for both games is amazing; I love further romanticizing it by pairing it with some moody music from some amazing artists. As an ode to my favorite games from the series, Silent Hill 1 and 2, I have chosen a few characters and paired them with a song that I think captures them. I hope these songs will enhance your Fall and give you a glimpse into Silent Hill.
Vincent Smith - Sensitive Artist by King Missile
A song about an insufferable man for the most insufferable character. Vincent would listen to this unironically I fear.
Angela Orosco - Harsh Realm by Widowspeak
One of the most tragic Silent Hill characters. This song is fitting for the disturbing past Angela faced with her father. The lyrics and somber mood also paint an image of what I imagine Angela faces everyday due to her trauma.
Maria - Devil On My Shoulder by Chloe Cherrie
Maria acts as a devil on James' shoulder, taunting and tempting him as he faces the darkest corners of his mind. I imagine Maria hates James for this, and I think the lyrics of this song illustrate what she may be feeling as the story progresses.
James Sunderland - Blade Running by Current Joys
There is a sad but hopeful tone in this song, that I think pairs well with James' journey as he faces a harsh world he remains driven to find his wife. However, the lyrics reveal a depressing story, one that I think reflects James' with his wife well.
Heather Mason - The Drive by Widowspeak
I think this song perfectly describes the emotions Heather faces as she struggles with her identity and confidence. There are moments in her story where she feels weak and wants to give up, but she is always able to muster herself despite the doubt while uncovering a jarring truth about herself and her father.
Mary Sunderland - Ante Meridiem by Men I Trust
The vibe of this song is warm and haunting, just like the memory James has of Mary. The lyrics depict a hazy moment that is drawn out into a vague dream of someone who is uncertain and possibly bedridden. It makes me uneasy but the song is also comforting, similar to the emotions Mary evokes in James.
Claudia Wolf - When the Sun Hits by Slowdive
This song evokes a mix of emotions, nostalgia, longing, hope, and a profound sadness. All of which are feelings that surround Claudia's story. Although this song seems to be about a relationship between two people, I think it does well to describe Claudia's relationship to her hell-centered faith.
Pyramid Head - Sowing Seeds by The Jesus and Mary Chain
This song is about trying to fit in, trying to find a home. It sounds like it is coming from a distant place, like a deep gnawing feeling. As the physical manifestation for James' guilt, Pyramid Head has no place of belonging inside his twisted mind. He lashes out and resorts to violence and reckless behavior as a result. Also Pyramid Head can't look up... he has to gaze... at his shoes.
Robbie the Rabbit - Pressure by Maebi
A creepy ambient song for a creepy ambient figure... This song sounds like white noise, something that is always there but it's unclear where it is coming from just like Robbie the Rabbit.
Happy listening! Shoutout to Caleb for the awesome idea!
