Summer Smash 2025, we beat the heat: The Scorpio Experience & On The Grid

Updated: Jul 3

If you were at Summer Smash this year, you already know it was crazy. From the minute gates opened at SeatGeek Stadium, the weekend was filled with mosh pits, crazy performances, and fans having an amazing time. The crowd was energetic during Sexxy Red’s hit-filled performance, floating through Yeat and Don Toliver’s never-before-seen collaboration, or Travis Scott's surprise appearance. There was no such thing as a dull moment.

FRIDAY:

Friday at Summer Smash came out strong and never let up. The crowd energy was wild from the start, especially when ThirteenDegrees hit the tent stage. People literally ran to get a good spot, and the second that “Problem Solva” started, the whole place lit up. He gave a performance that felt real and raw, like he was performing for day-ones and first-timers all at once. After his set, we got the chance to interview him, and he talked about how surreal it felt to see the crowd react the way they did, and how much he’s grown since first starting out. Right after, Trippie Redd took things up a notch, with mosh pits breaking out within seconds. He brought the chaos and emotion his fans live for. Then Ski Mask the Slump God came in with nonstop energy, jumping around the stage and hyping up the crowd the entire time. DDG followed with a smooth, confident vibe, performing “Moonwalking in Calabasas” and “I’m Geekin” to a crowd that knew every word. Karrahbooo held her own and then some, bringing bold energy and sharp delivery that had everyone tuned in. To close the night, Don Toliver x Yeat created a whole vibe with his dreamy vocals and hypnotic visuals. Songs like “Private Landing” and “After Party” were the perfect way to end a packed, high-energy first day.

SATURDAY:

Saturday was filled with iconic performances from Soulja Boy, Sexxy Redd, Vonoff1700, and Future this day was full of icons and energy that had the crowd hype the whole day.

If you didn’t catch Vonoff1700 at Summer Smash this year, you missed one of the rawest, hometown‑charged sets of the weekend. Bringing an energy to the Ecco Tent that had the crowd rapping along and everyone excited to see one of Chicago's newest drill artists, the vibes were unmatched.

SUNDAY

Sunday was intense. The heatwave made it feel like the hottest day of the summer, but that didn’t stop the crowd from showing up ready to go. NAV opened with a chill set that helped everyone ease into the day, performing tracks like “Did You See Nav” and “Turks” while fans looked for any bit of shade. Lil Yachty followed with a mix of older hits and new experimental sounds. The crowd went wild for “Gimmie Da Lite” and stayed with him the whole way through. Quavo kept the energy going strong with solo tracks and Migos classics that had everyone singing along. Ken Carson brought a burst of chaos to the stage. His set was fast, loud, and nonstop, with mosh pits forming instantly. The most unforgettable moment came when Young Thug stepped on stage. The crowd went crazy when he started performing (especially since it's been 1200+ days since he was supposed to perform at Summer Smash 2022), and the energy kept rising with each track. Then the entire place lost it when Travis Scott came out. It was a complete surprise. Phones went up, people were screaming, and the crowd pushed forward to get as close as possible. Seeing Thug and Travis on stage together was unreal. It felt like the perfect closing moment for the weekend. Everyone knew they had just witnessed something special.

In all, Summer Smash 2025 delivered exactly what fans came for: unforgettable performances, wild energy, activities, fun, and yummy food. From surprise guests to mosh pit moments, it was a weekend that brought the heat and the heart of hip-hop to SeatGeek Stadium.
