SuperM – The Avengers of Kpop

On October 3rd, SuperM made their debut with the song “Jopping”
SuperM is not just an ordinary Kpop group with an attractive appearance and incredible choreography. The group is made up of members from a variety of established boybands under SM Entertainment- South Korea’s largest entertainment company. SuperM consists of Taemin from Shinee, Kai and Baekhyun from EXO, Taeyong and Mark from NCT127, and Ten and Lucas from WayV. Each member of SuperM has their own solid fanbase as well as prior experience in the entertainment industry. Therefore, this new formation of SuperM is a revolutionary act in the Kpop scene. In other words, SuperM is like a Kpop edition of “America’s Next Top Model: All-stars.” Moreover, with tremendous support from Capitol Records, SuperM has a strong foundation with which to expand upon and succeed in America.
However, because of the high anticipation for SuperM, it is a challenge for them to keep up with the public’s expectations. Since every member is already an established artist, the prejudice and assumptions about their failures are unavoidable. Nevertheless, with the record 19 million views within 4 days after the release of the “Jopping” music video, SuperM is slowly taking down the public’s prejudice against them with their accomplishments.
Additionally, SuperM’s announcement about their upcoming North American Tour shows the group’s vision and ambition towards entering the American music market. The relatively high ticket demand for their concerts demonstrates a promising future for SuperM. Interestingly, Chicago is the second city in America that SuperM will perform at. During the concert, I’m sure they will show their abilities as “the Avengers of Kpop.”
