The Art of Girlbossing

Girlbossing doesn’t mean you will have everything figured out immediately. It’s a mindset you stick to every day, regardless of the downfalls in the previous days. Our podcast, Highly Unqualified, focuses on the rollercoaster of experiences and adventures women like us face every day.

The Art of Girlbossing is the concept of successful, ambitious women who strive to chase their dreams. Not limiting themselves to the restrictions they’re born in and setting a strong lifestyle for them and their future. It’s about choosing yourself, working towards your goals, and growing into the person you want to become.

Romanticize the Bare Minimum

There’s something so calm about sitting in a cafe and having your work spread out before you, the smell of coffee, good background music, baristas calling out your order, and fading conversations from the table next to you almost gives you a main character energy. Change of locations to get work done and being productive is very important. Work becomes art, and you become the artist. It's like decompressing after a long day of working in a library. Romanticizing studying is an attractive habit, you make it attractive by going to cute cafes or a park, get a drink of your choice, have your headphones in with good music and just keep working and productivity feels less like pressure and more like intention.

Being productive, actually getting things done, and crossing them off your to-do list is something that gives us joy.

Protect Your Peace

There are some sacrifices you need to make in order to become your truest self. This involves getting rid of negative energies that lurk in your daily life.

Get. Rid. Of. It.

If it didn’t bring you joy once, don’t let it hurt you twice.

Not only do inconsistencies in friendships, love, and situations cause you to be drained from doing what you really want, but in the only life you get, do not let outside forces stop you from achieving your true self.

Strive for Success Instead of Being Perfect

The Mountain is You is a book by Brianna West, its a self-help book that helps you realize your potential and what's stopping you from being the better version of your self(spoiler alert- its you) at one point Brianna also talks about growth which comes from shedding old version of yourself, the theme of death and rebirth not in literal sense but emotional one. Once you understand that transformation comes from shedding the old you, the next step is learning how to rebuild the new you: slowly, intentionally, and consistently. An inspiring book, Atomic Habits by James Clear, describes this mentality as the compounding effect: 1% improvement every day for a year will result in you becoming 37 times more skilled than you were a year ago. And the best part? It starts to feel effortless once you realize that all those tiny steps you took, like the five-minute tasks, the small choices, the little promises, have quietly created a skill gap between who you used to be and who you’ve become.
