What's a blogger to The Dare?
I had the pleasure of seeing The Dare at The House of Blues on July 30th for his Post(Pre) Lolla Show!
Altgrandma opened for him with an amazing DJ set that really got the crowd energized. I was really impressed with them and definitely would see one of their sets again! Their set was exactly what I expected from a DJ, with a blend of 2000s pop and modern, with a very strong bass. They did a wonderful job of reading the crowd.
Once The Dare came out, the crowd went absolutely wild. In his signature suit and sunglasses, he is exactly who he thinks he is.

The sheer energy coming off of not only the crowd, but him too, was enough to get anyone up who wasn't already. The Dare, Harrison Patrick Smith, is an artist who uses the entire stage even though he is just one person. I am sure his height helps.
I was a casual fan of his music before seeing him, but after seeing how the once-substitute teacher performs, I truly understand the hype and would easily see him again.
He started out with Open Up,
Good Time
Sex
Perfume
I Destroyed Disco
You're Invited
I can't Escape Myself
Cheeky
LCA
Bloodwork
Elevation
You Can Never Go Home
Movement
All Night
And of course, he ended with Girls.
The crowd was completely packed with fans dancing and enjoying their time, some witnessing his cymbol throwing from 5 feet away. How The Dare had the energy to do this show, a performance at Lollapalooza, and a DJ set on August 1st at Smartbar is beyond me.
This was overall an amazing night and a great way to kick off Lollapalooza. Keep an eye out for our upcoming blogs about the festival itself!
