The Ghost of Concert’s Past

Tomorrow I am going to a concert for the first time in a year. And just who will I be seeing, you ask? The lovely Selena Gomez.

I know, I know, too mainstream for you guys? Well the gist of it is that the tickets were relatively cheap and she is my #WomanCrushWednesday every day of the week. Therefore I will willingly wear a white T-shirt from Big Lots! with her name painted on it while cheering from the far upper corner of the All State Arena.

To be honest, I haven’t been to many concerts. Going backwards, I saw the Trans Siberian Orchestra at the All State Arena last December,

David Guetta at Congress Theater in May 2012,

the B96 Jingle Bash at the All State Arena before that in December 2011, where Selena Gomez did not show and we only got Redfoo of LMFAO because Sky Blu threw his back out shuffling (I’m not kidding),

and then that leads back to my very first concert at 16, which was the Dropkick Murphys at the Congress Theater in February 2009.

I moshed that night, you guys. It was such a bonding experience, knowing that those people in the mosh pit were there to pick you up if you fell, like a family. It was magical, even when the big tattooed guy jumping behind me sprayed his Bud Lite all over me. It was part of the experience, yo.

Hey speaking of concerts, UIC Radio gives away free tickets to an array of shows around the city – all you gotta do is listen for your chance to win some.  Wanna know the best part about that? Now you can increase your chances of winning by having UIC Radio at your fingertips to listen to whenever you want, wherever you want with the new Live 365 mobile app.

Download, listen, and win!

Well I’m off to school now to push through that crunch time before the semester ends in just a few short weeks. So I’ll leave you with one of my favorite songs by Selena Gomez, “Slow Down.” Hush hush, do not protest, just gaze at the pretty lady.
