the SCARIEST venues in Chicago!!!!

In honor of Halloween being this week, this week I want to shed some light on the scariest and spookiest concert venues in Chicago, whether it be my personal opinion or rumors of the venues actually being haunted.

The first scary venue I want to shed light on is House of Blues. Not only is House of Blues an old venue, the old, dated architecture of the venue already giving off a spooky vibe, it is rumored that a little ghost girl has been seen roaming around the venue, once asking a little boy if he wanted to play with her. I definitely felt this vibe when I visited the venue earlier this year to catch a grentperez concert.

Next up, this venue doesn't have any rumors against it, but it personally freaks me out, and that's going to be the Aragon Ballroom. This venue is also very old, once again giving off that spooky vibe to it, but what scares me the most about this venue is how hot it is and how evil it is to get out of there after a concert just ended. You have all these people funneling through 2 skinny and cramped staircases, and it just takes forever to exit the venue. Going to a rap concert at this venue is basically a death sentence (maybe i'm biased because i just saw Osamason perform here a few days ago), the Aragon is definitely a contender for one of the scariest venues in Chicago.

Another venue that has had reported paranormal activity in or around it is the now defunct Congress Theater. Shut down in 2013, this venue has had reported sightings of a woman's shadow as well as shadowy figures, footsteps, and eerie noises being heard throughout the venue. I personally never was able to visit this venue as it closed down when I was 6 years old, but from photos you can definitely see why paranormal activity was spotted here.

Another venue that I personally think is terrifying is Subterranean. The all-black exterior, the checkered floor, the sculpture of the two dudes, the bathroom with one urinal and one stall, how cramped it gets and how hard you get slammed into the stage if you're front row, this venue terrifies me. But it's not all bad, you get a great view of the performance you're seeing no matter where you're standing in the venue, unless the person in front of you is taller than you, which is probably the scariest thing of them all.

This sums up a few Chicago venues that I think could be considered some of the scariest venues in Chicago. Thank you for reading this week, and have a terrifying Halloween!
