time to celebrate!

When I was young, anytime that I would dislike something about myself that I thought was different, my mom would say, "no, I like it - it makes you unique".
As a child, I thought those were lies from my mom to make me feel better. However, every year that I get older, her words become truer.
Whether or not she meant to, my mother was training me to celebrate our differences all those years. She never hesitated to love every unique feature, whether or not others agreed and no matter what arguments I would make. Always, she would be proven right. I would realize at some point that each thing that was different about me was to be celebrated, not changed. She made me realize that we should highlight our unique features because those are the parts of us that are new to the world.

Why show the world the parts of you that you have already trained to be like everybody else - the parts of you that allow you to "fit into" society?
What's the point of your life if not to celebrate the unique things about you?
My mom's simple advice can help us all apply this message to everyone else we encounter. Let's all celebrate our differences. Let's celebrate what makes you, you.
Many times, I think that, when people try to do this and show the world what makes them, them, people don't see the beautiful, unique person. Instead, they see something unknown, something outside of the norms, and they don't understand how to deal with it, with you.
Let's all look at the unique parts of people with new eyes.
When you see a unique aspect of an individual, recognize that they are celebrating their uniqueness, and you have an opportunity to witness what this singular individual has to offer the world. You have an opportunity to celebrate our differences.
