On April 10th, I had the amazing opportunity to see Twice in Detroit, MI, on their THIS IS FOR tour! Now I'm not a K-pop stan, and I have no bias, but this is one of those shows where I look back and go wow. Twice, a 9-member K-pop group under JYP Entertainment, has been active since 2015. This is my second time seeing Twice, and unfortunately, I have to say I was disappointed by the crowd. Previously, I saw Twice at Lollapalooza 2025, where the crowd brought a lot of energy. This time, Detroit was lacking. For the entire show, many people were sitting. When I stood up, I was politely asked to sit down. Although I understand that I may have been blocking people's view, this is a concert. It's hard to sit down and truly dance and enjoy the music.

Entering Little Caesars Arena, I was a little taken aback by the size. This venue was smaller than I had expected, yet Twice still hadn't sold out. However, my seat provided a great vantage point to see the entire stage. I really enjoyed Twice's stage layout. They had one large platform in the middle and bridges leading to smaller platforms on either side.

Twice played a 30-song set, lasting just under 2 hours. The setlist consisted of 4 acts and a 3-song encore. The song I was most excited for, Strategy, came second. Strategy comes from the December 2024 album of the same name. This song features a verse from Megan Thee Stallion and is my favorite Twice song. This song is also notably featured in Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters. Twice ended their first act with MOONLIGHT SUNRISE, from their March 2023 album READY TO BE. This song combines elements of R&B and traditional K-pop, making it unique. After a quick costume change, Twice opened their second act with MARS from their July 2025 THIS IS FOR, the album they were touring for. This track gives me a more electronic vibe but is also very tame. This was my first time ever hearing this song, but I was sure to add it to my playlist. Act 2 also featured The Feels, a personal favorite of mine. Act 3 dove into the members' solos. Unfortunately, not all members of Twice were present at the show; 2 were out with injury. I still found this act to be one of the most entertaining, as each member wore their own costume, and the lighting was stunning. As previously mentioned, I have no bias, so I didn't find any one song to be my favorite of this set.

Act 4 and the encore were a great way to round out this concert. Act 4 contained another one of my personal favorites What is Love?, from Summer Nights. The composition of this song makes it very easy to sing along, which makes it a great track in person. Twice played 2 songs for their encore: Feel Special and Alcohol-Free. Alcohol-Free, a song I had never heard before, was really fun and a great way to end the night.

Seeing Twice live again really made me want to start listening to more K-Pop. It was really nice to go to a concert of a genre that I usually don't tap into. And although Detroit may not have brought the energy I had hoped, Twice fans were the nicest group of people I've met. I got so many fan-made goodies, and they were also so welcoming and polite. Twice played some great songs, and I'd definitely consider going to another K-Pop show.
