2026, letting go

2026 is about letting go,
Let go of something you’ve always wanted to.
Let go of that friend who never made an effort, while you kept trying to hold the friendship together.
Let go of that ex who never chose you, but still has the nerve to say, “I’ll come back.”
Let go of the shame you’ve been carrying. Embrace this version of you. You deserve to be loved and treated right.
Let go of resentment, too. It’s not worth wasting your time on people you can’t stand.
Though this is easier said than done. What is the point of holding on? Why wake up every day thinking about what’s already done or the person who makes you cry or the version of yourself you don’t even love? We’re built to feel pain. To feel distress. To feel that restlessness in our hearts. But that doesn’t mean it’s over. If we’re given another chance at life just by waking up in the morning, that means we’re still needed. Someone out there wants us.
Somewhere out there, there’s purpose. No resentment,
Just love and kindness.

2026 is the new 2016, right?
In 2016, I was 11. I was that innocent girl who didn’t really know how cruel the world could be. The girl who hadn’t felt heartbreak yet, or a friendship breakup. The girl who wasn’t insecure about herself.
In 2026, I’m going to try to make my 11-year-old self proud of who I became, no matter what happened in these ten years. I changed in ways that made me who I am today, and honestly, if I lived a “happy” life for ten straight years, there wouldn’t be any growth, just this illusion of happiness.
This year, I want to tell that 11-year-old girl: it was all worth it.
The pain. The trauma. The love. The heartbreak. It was worth it because it made us stronger and taught us what it really means to let go, and maybe that’s the whole point of 2026: not to become who we were before, but to become someone we can finally breathe as.
