April Expansion

Going outside in a jacket is one of life’s greatest pleasures, up there with getting married or having a successful career. It has been a long and tedious Winter, and although the temperatures in Chicago do not resemble Spring, the sun does, and that is good enough for me.
I’ve noticed people call Spring “Girl New Year's,” and I think that is extremely fitting. Starting a new chapter in the dead of Winter does sound questionable now that I think about it. The changing of any season calls for new beginnings and fresh starts, but perhaps Spring most of all.
Right when I deemed it too dark to continue on, the sun came out, and the birds started chirping again. Spring is simply magical!
My intentions for April revolve around expansion. This month, bigger is best, and more is more. More relaxation, more enjoyment, and more curiosity. We do not always need to be “optimizing,” but I think we should always have room to grow. Grow your brain, appetite, plant some seeds (literal or metaphorical), and see what blossoms.
Stay Curious
Investigate things more closely than you usually would, take an unfamiliar path to a familiar location, get to know someone you’ve kept at surface level, etc.
Practice Being Bad
Nothing reminds me more that the journey is the reward than taking on a new hobby and finding out that I am bad at it. I have picked up and put down my crochet hooks numerous times, and I am ready to attempt a new project and spend hours on it without getting it perfect.
Seek Information Outside Your Perspective
Thanks to algorithms, we are shown opinions very similar to our own. This month, try to break out of that by taking recommendations from an unlikely source, reading books outside your typical genre, and watching foreign films from before you were born.
10 List
For each month, make a list of 10 things you want to do. No consequences if you do not complete all of them!
With love,
Kierstyn
