Chicago's own Brigitte Calls Me Baby played 2 sold-out shows on April 16th and 17th, at Thalia Hall. Brigitte Calls Me Baby is a breed of Alt and Indie rock. The band has been around for 3 years and released their first studio album, The Future Is Our Way Out, in 2024. The album took off with hits like Impressively Average and We Were Never Alive paving the way. Brigitte Calls Me Baby is currently touring in support of their 2026 album, Irreversible. Irreversible is currently on the path of The Future Is Our Way Out, with hits Slumber Party and I Danced with Another Love in My Dream.

Brigitte Calls Me Baby is a band that always puts on legendary hometown shows. Led by vocalist Wes Leavins, Brigitte Calls Me Baby puts so much passion and enthusiasm into shows, not to mention the stunning vocals. Wes Leavins, often compared to a young Elvis, has one of the most stunning voices you'll ever hear.

Supporting Brigitte Calls Me Baby is SKORTS. SKORTS have been releasing singles since 2023, but released their first studio album, Incompletement, in 2025. The band from NYC plays heavier "rock" music but puts its own twist on it.

SKORTS went on stage, delivered a loud, live 30-minute set, and did a great job of engaging the crowd. SKORTS achieved the perfect live sound, the kind every band should strive for. Towards the end of their set, the band gave a majestic version of their song Bodies. Bodies is such a vibe, it's almost hard to describe. Dark, loud, and chaotic are all I can think of. In a way, SKORTS remind me of Deftones.

Brigitte Calls Me Baby set left me wanting more. The band consistently comes on stage with such presence; you can tell immediately they know what they're doing. This was my 3rd time seeing the band, so I knew what to expect, but I hadn't seen them in about a year. For the most part, they played songs off of Irreversible, which were really good. During the show, they stopped to answer questions. At this point, someone from the crowd asked to take a shot of Malort with the band. Wes Leavins downed the shot, and the band continued on into their set. Brigitte Calls Me Baby played a really unique cover of the Strokes Is This It. The Band played the cover earlier that day on Q101. My favorite song from the new album, Slumber Party, was played towards the end of the shows and put my jaw on the floor. Jeremy Benshish's drumming was top-tier, and the whole band's stage presence left me starstruck. Brigitte Calls Me Baby eventually left the stage for their mandatory encore. For their final song, they played We Were Never Alive from The Future Is Our Way Out. We Were Never Alive always rocks live, and it was the perfect way to end their set.

Thalia Hall is an all-time great venue that served as the perfect venue for one of Chicago's soon-to-be greats. I'm super happy to have gotten tickets to this sold-out night. Brigitte Calls Me Baby is on tour until May 21st, ending in Indianapolis. Take this as the opportunity to get ahead of the bandwagon and check out Brigitte Calls Me Baby.
