Saba, JID, Smino, and Denzel Curry Included in 2019 Lollapalooza Lineup
On March 20, 2019, the star-studded lineup for Lollapalooza, the three-day turned four-day annual Chicago summer music festival, was announced. Attendees can expect Childish Gambino, Ariana Grande, The Strokes, and 21 Savage to be a few of the many beloved and gifted artists who will perform at Grant Park this summer.
Ever since the festival caught my attention back in the early 2010s, I have been relatively indifferent with each year’s lineup announcement; and yes, even when the lineup included big acts akin to this year’s. However, this year, there are four reasons which have piqued my interest.
They are JID, Saba, Smino, and Denzel Curry. These four unapologetically talented young hip-hop artists each released critically acclaimed albums in 2018. Now three months into the new year, and the hype around the four, thankfully, hasn’t simmered.
It’s still Twitter speculation, but there is a strong reason to believe in the possibility of a set/aftershow which would feature these four.
Tweets Point Towards a Joint Performance
So, if you are going to Lollapalooza this year, keep an eye out for JID, Saba, Smino, and Denzel Curry, because a joint performance from the four would be a chance to witness hip-hop history in the making.
Meanwhile, as summer draws closer, take some time to listen to the projects the four released last year and let the music speak for itself.
