Hard Launching a World Tour?

Last time I wrote about Dan and Phil, I saw them in November 2024 for The Terrible Influence Tour, and now they're back at it. Following the public confirmation of their romantic relationship in October 2025 (their “Hard Launch: video) and their subsequent comedy podcast, HARD LAUNCH with Dan and Phil, their fourth consecutive global tour together, Hard Launch World Tour now takes over North America, Australia, and Eurasia.

Hard Launch is a comedy stage show themed around openness, self-acceptance, and comedic oversharing. It is much like Terrible Influence, but it serves as a thematic follow-up to their previous tours and marks a new era where both creators are fully open about their personal lives and identities.

It feels like a natural extension of their “Hard Launch” video: Are Dan and Phil in a Relationship? The Truth, rather than simply a tour built around the fact that they confirmed their relationship. The video established the central idea of this new era, and now, after years of carefully controlling what they shared, they could finally tell their story on their own terms. The live show takes that same freedom and turns it into something much bigger, louder, and more chaotic.

One of the most interesting things about Hard Launch is how much it is about everything that comes after the reveal.

The relationship announcement itself is almost the starting point. In the original video, Dan and Phil explain the history of their relationship, the years of speculation surrounding them, and why they chose to keep that part of their lives private. That distinction matters for the stage show. Instead of “here is our private life,” the comedy becomes “here are all the ridiculous stories we can finally tell now that this enormous secret isn't hanging over us.” The official description essentially promises exactly that: oversharing, scream-laughing, and celebrating that they are still here.

And, crucially, they're still Dan and Phil. The humor isn't suddenly replaced by solemn relationship storytelling. Their ability to turn an embarrassing memory, domestic incident, or completely mundane interaction into an absurd bit is still the foundation.

As with all the other tours, the show incorporates crowd interaction, games, and the familiar Dan-and-Phil back-and-forth, making the audience part of the chaos rather than simply spectators. That connects especially well with the broader Hard Launch era: their podcast has similarly incorporated audience submissions and “hard launches,” turning listeners' stories into material for their comedy. The difference now is that the interaction can happen without the same need to maintain the old mystery. The audience isn't trying to decode something anymore; everyone knows the premise, so they can actually play with it.

That's probably the biggest significance of Hard Launch: it represents a change in what Dan and Phil's public performance is allowed to be. They're not abandoning the things that made Dan and Phil entertaining; they're taking the same chemistry out of the old YouTube box. In that sense, “Hard Launch” isn't just the announcement of a relationship. It's almost a declaration of a new creative philosophy: we've spent enough time being careful about what you know; now let's tell you the funny stories. The relationship reveal opened the door, and the tour is them running through it at full speed, screaming.

I am excited to see what the new era brings for Dan and Phil and to relive all the great energy and amazing community that comes with the Hard Launch World Tour on October 1st at the Rosemont Theater, Chicago IL.
