Imperio Music Award 2019

My experience

Imperio Music Awards is a singing competition for amateur Latino artists in Illinois. This event is brand new, and I had the opportunity to attend the second gala. This event welcomes all the Latino singers in Illinois with different genres and languages.

I attended the first and last day of the competition. Each week for a month, the event is held in a different spot around the state. You can either follow them to those places, or see it live on Facebook. I have to say that I had a lot of fun both times. There were some unexpected performances each day that made it all worth it. I also loved walking on the red carpet. The artists were taking interviews and having the time of their lives.

There were some things that I was not entirely happy with. For example, there was a producer, a member of a band and a professor from a performing arts school in Mexico as the jury. But in the end, the winners were selected only by the votes of the public. I know that many popular singing competitions on T.V. are like that, but it makes it feel more like a popularity contest instead of a singing competition; but that is just my opinion.

Imperio Music Awards es un concurso de canto para artistas latinos en el estado de Illinois. Este evento apenas comenzo y yo tuve la oportunidad de asistir a la segunda gala. Este evento da la bienvenida a todos los cantantes latinos en Illinois con diferentes géneros e idiomas.

Asistí al primer y último día del concurso. Cada semana durante un mes, el evento se lleva a cabo en un lugar diferente al rededor del estado. Puedes seguirlos a esos lugares o verlos en vivo en Facebook. Tengo que decir que me divertí mucho las dos veces. Hubo algunas actuaciones inesperadas cada día que hicieron que todo valiera la pena. También me encantó caminar sobre la alfombra roja. Los artistas estaban tomando entrevistas y teniendo el tiempo de sus vidas.

Había algunas cosas con las que no estaba del todo feliz. Por ejemplo, había un productor, un miembro de una banda y un profesor de una escuela de artes escénicas en México como el jurado. Pero al final, los ganadores fueron seleccionados solo por los votos del público. Sé que muchas de las competiciones de canto populares en la TV son así, pero me hace sentir más como un concurso de popularidad en lugar de una competencia de canto. Pero esa es solo mi opinión.
