In a recent episode on the Today Show to promote the upcoming 2025 NFL season, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell hinted at the possibility of having Taylor Swift headline Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California.
In the interview, Goodell stated, “I can't tell you anything about that... it's a maybe," when asked whether an iconic Swift performance was already in place.
Last season, Swift, along with her mega-fanbase coined with the name “Swifties," shook up the NFL, making their presence known both physically and financially.
According to statistics obtained by Sports Media Watch, when Swift attended a Chiefs game, the networks showing appearances of her averaged 25 million viewers in their late Sunday coverages and 16 million in their early Sunday coverages, resulting in a 9 percent and 15 percent increase compared to when she didn’t appear.
I believe a performance by Swift would absolutely break the internet considering the recent engagement between Swift and Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce.
Swift and Kelce publicly confirmed their engagement on August 26, 2025, via a joint Instagram post, leading to both pop culture and sports fans becoming thrilled and happy for the couple.
Before going public as Swift's partner, Kelce was already established as a future hall of famer and a dominant tight end in the eyes of sports fans.
Since dating Swift, Kelce's name carries more weight in the pop culture world, resulting in him becoming more involved in red carpets and award shows.
The public relationship between the two has built a main-stream bridge between the sports world and the music industry in what appears to be a more genuine way considering the relationship came out of nowhere and both members holding great reputations and loveable personalities.
Considering the popularity of both Kelce and Swift, the financial, and economic benefits that the NFL could obtain by having Swift perform could lead to the most-watched Super Bowl performance ever.
Swift recently announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on a recent episode of Kelce's podcast. A future Super Bowl performance could serve as a massive platform to promote her album and receive her flowers on a level we have not seen before. The album is set to release on Oct. 3.
With the combination of her recent engagement and her highly anticipated album release, Swift's involvement in a Super Bowl performance will create a “Swift-quake" that I believe will be very different from anything fans have seen because of the millions of fans that adore Swift.
Super Bowl LX is set to take place at Levi's Stadium on Feb. 8, 2026.
