How do you pay for all the debt in your life? Whether you’re paying for your cell phone bill, clothes, shoes, or something as simple as your favorite coffee from Starbucks, you use some form of currency(cash, debit, or credit). So, apparently, cash, debit, and credit aren’t the only forms of payment for parking tickets. The University of Alaska Anchorage allows students to pay for their parking tickets with food payments. Yes, you read that right, “FOOD PAYMENTS.”

The foods that are being used for credit are jars of peanut butter and jelly. According to the requirements, “two 16-ounce (454-gram) jars offer a $10 credit, three jars offer a $35 credit, and five jars offer a $60 credit.” Acceptable forms of jars are “any unopened commercially produced nut butter-almond, cashew, peanut butter or any flavor jam, jelly, marmalade or fruit preserves.” If only the people at the federal student loan offices got this memo.
