Tarot One at A Time

I have been studying tarot for some time now, and I have learned so much. There is something really beautiful about understanding yourself better through an intuition-based system.

The way I learned best was when I would take a single card and understand what it represented, both upright and reversed. So... if you're like me and want to know tarot, this series is gonna be informational! I am introducing three cards today from the Major Arcana: 0 through 2.

THE FOOL

Upright: Where it all starts! This card represents journeying, discovery, and moving forward. It's also blissful ignorance; you don't know better than not knowing, and that's okay. The journey you are taking will lead you somewhere eye-opening.

Reversed: Something is still coming ahead, it's just a little farther. The spiritual journey your soul gravitates towards is there, you are just not there yet. Just anticipate it!

We all start off as the fool, if not now, at one point in our lives, we have or we will. Look at the card closely. The Fool is holding a small bag because he's not "prepared" for the journey, but that's ideal. He isn't bringing any baggage from the past; he wants a fresh start. His surroundings are sunny and warm, but he's at the edge of a cliff. He looks up as he embarks down a rabbit hole of possibilities, so no, the universe isn't calling you dumb.

THE MAGICIAN

Upright: The first lesson we receive. We have all the tools we could ever need...always. The cup, the pentacle, the sword, the wand; all in The Magician's possession. Our resources we see; fire, air, earth, and water.

Reversed: We are forgetting our power, we aren't seeing the magic that could be. We are wasting the talent we hold by not acknowledging it.

The Magician is always the first to initiate action, the first in the major arcana. The Magician, holding all the elements of the Minor Arcana, is a reminder that we hold everything we need in our journey throughout tarot.

THE HIGH PRIESTESS

Upright: Seeing beyond surface-level resources and powers. Understanding how important seeing inside ourselves is. The unknown, the mystical, the mystery, following and trusting your OWN intuitive wisdom.

Reversed: Blocked intuition. Even if you are getting "clear" tells, you have misinterpreted them. You don't have to soothe or comfort your ego to reaffirm it, you need to reconnect to yourself to find the true truths.

She is who we are at our core, especially those with deep intuition. Sitting between two pillars, she holds a higher wisdom. If you pull this card, it might feel like you don't know the clear answer, but you do. It's within you.

That's all for now, but I can't wait to add more to this series. Breaking down the cards one by one is honestly helping me reconnect with my own understanding of tarot, and hopefully, it's doing the same for you too. Whether you're just starting or returning to the practice, I hope this makes the cards feel a little more personal and a little less intimidating.

Stay tuned for the next set in the Major Arcana ꨄ︎
