Tarot One at a Time, Part 7

Updated: Apr 19

Welcome back to my tarot learning series! This month we have some strong Venus energy that came in. Venus entered Taurus on March 30, and we had a Full Moon in Libra on April 1st. Since Taurus is ruled by Venus, this shift is going to feel smooth and harmonious. It’s a time to focus on beauty, both inside and out, and in creative expression. If you’ve been putting off creative projects or self-care, now is a great time to reconnect with yourself and notice the beauty around and within you.

The Full Moon in Libra falls during the waxing pink moon phase, which is perfect for reflection and balance. Libra is all about harmony, so this moon invites us to look at our relationships and areas of life that feel off-balance. What’s working? What isn’t? Where can you restore balance, and where do you need to let go? Use this time to realign and move forward with clarity.

This week’s cards are The Moon and The Sun

(Quick note: upright means the card appears straight; reversed means it appears upside down.)

The Moon XVIII

Card Description: The card shows a face on the moon that almost mirrors the shape of the sun, highlighting the duality of the moon. It can appear as either a crescent or a full moon. In the crescent, there’s a person’s face that looks like a resting frown. Two dogs are looking up at the moon with red eyes; one seems distressed while the other calmly gazes. Across from them, a crawfish is walking out of the water. Below the moon, there are 15 golden shapes that could represent stars. The moon is positioned between two gray towers.

Upright

The moon card consistently eludes two possibilities: two towers, two animals, two perspectives of the moon, etc. This all signals to the power of illusions and how the lack of certainty can play into shaping how we perceive things.

Relationships: There’s a lot of misunderstandings which leads to terrible communication. It’s important you don’t make drastic judgments about the relationship solely based on what you perceive to be intuition, only for it to be projected fears during this time. What are you projecting onto this person, and why?

Finances: This isn’t the time to make investments or make purchases you’re unsure about. You might think you have enough resources, but suddenly once you commit to something you’ll realize you have a lot less than you perceived. Don’t finalize anything when you have missing information.

Self Growth: How can you expect to move onto a different part of your life, if you aren’t connected to your inner self? You might be feeling stuck, for example an artist might have trouble creating solely from their internal world, they need external resources to create something concrete, because they don’t trust they can do well. Free your mind from rigidity and put in more effort to expand your intuition.

Reversed

You have been struggling with uncertainty to a larger degree. This ties to your emotional world feeling threatened by past experiences that shaped it. You can’t hold yourself back by ‘what if’s’, it’s important you enter the next part of your life.

Relationships: This signals to major deception from either you or the other person. This could be unintentional or without evil intent. That’s still not the foundation of a healthy relationship, so open up if it’s in your control and trust your intuition if it isn’t.

Finances: It hard to separate fears with your intuition, but with the presence of the reversed Moon card, it more important you go with your intuition and trust yourself. You might be entering a part in your life where you’re confident enough to invest into something, continue to be careful and make sure there is no deception.

Self-Growth: Really work into differentiating your fears and intuitional stress. If you look into things you’re feeling anxiety about and take the time to examine if there is history behind them, you will be able to reflect and move on. Try not to get stuck in cycles of almost reaching breakthrough and starting all over again.

The Sun XVIIII

Card Description: A joyous child sits on a white horse; sunflowers surround the entire background. The sun takes up a big portion of the card, with a neutral expression. A red flag is held by the child, almost celebrating victory.

Upright

What comes after night and hardships endured is exactly what the Sun represents upright. A sense of freedom, a lack of inhibition, and the harmonious possibilities of the day. There’s always newfound hope strengthened by preserving through hardships. It signifies the true acceptance of self which leads to abundance and authenticity that shines.

Relationships: You are a people magnet! Your sheer projection of self is enough for others to be pulled into your circle. This is a sign of complete harmony and a beautiful path forward.

Finances: You're thriving financially, there’s probably a lot of reward for the work you do, usually this isn’t money you randomly came upon. You worked hard and you’re now reaping the rewards.

Self-Growth: Don’t view the stage of life you’re at as your true peak. You’re capable of infinite growth, so work towards that. Do things that bring you happiness and help you open up your creativity.

Reversed

This is a troublesome part of your life; you tend to be overly optimistic about neutral experiences which is in turn slowing down your progress in aligning with your authenticity. You could also be experiencing external factors preventing you from being optimistic.

Relationships: The people you surround yourself with might be preventing you from seeing the positives about yourself. Abundance and optimism still exist, it’s just unnecessarily clouded.

Finances: Sometimes hopeful thinking can become a bit unrealistic, it’s important you ground yourself. You might also be resolving an issue surrounding your finances; you might have thought a problem was bigger than it was and are now receiving clarity.

Self-Growth: You don’t need to reflect other people’s idea of optimism or positivity. Comparing yourself to others benefits no one, and submitting to other people’s expectations of your life only increases your anxieties. Take time away for yourself to shift back into your authenticity.
