“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is a saying that can be used by someone who is trying to decide what makes someone else attractive in their eyes. In the 1960s, legendary music group The Temptations recorded a song titled, “Beauty is Only Skin Deep” and it places an emphasis on the internal features of a person vs. their external features. Yet, model Bella Hadid has just been named the most beautiful woman in the world according to a mathematical equation.
Calculating Perfection

I never thought that beauty and perfection were linked since all humans have flaws. However, “The Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi” is an equation that calculates the perfect face. This equation was reportedly used in ancient Greece by artists to create their best work and it’s still being used by plastic surgeons today. Bella Hadid’s face has a 94.35 percent accuracy based on the formula.
Other celebrities that are considered the top beauties in the world are Beyonce, Amber Heard, and Ariana Grande, respectively. This assessment of “the perfect face” is absolutely ridiculous but it does make me wonder if women will start measuring their worth by this formula. Times have changed and with the emergence of filters on all social media platforms, everyone wants to alter their appearance for all the wrong reasons.
