You just have to know a few things
I’m a pretty well-seasoned traveler in that I travel at least once every couple of months. I mean, by no means am I living Fergie’s Glamorous life, I usually travel to see my family who is spread out across the US. What I do mean is that I am a frequent flyer (with no frequent flyer points, unfortunately) so I know my way around an airport and I’m comfortable with most airlines. However, there are some things I think some people don’t know about taking the air and that’s what I will share with you now.
First off, plane tickets can be extremely cheap if you know when and where to look (It’s how I got away with flying to Orlando Florida for spring break). There are several ways to do this and one of them is perusing Google Flights which is pretty much guaranteed to give you the best price at the time you look it up. The prices can get as low as $50! My aunt made it to California on a non-stop plane for only $80 and if that’s not a steal I don’t know what is.
The next best thing to do for cheap flights is look at the specific airlines. Of course, there is Spirit which is known for cheap flights and bad service but now there is also Frontier Airlines who are also known for cheap flights but better service. Maybe Frontier is the one for you.
Moving on, let’s confirm some common myths about flying: One, airplane pillows are useless, two, the bathroom on the plane should be avoided at all costs and three, middle seats are the worst. Let’s just face it, airplanes are not comfortable (unless you’re flying first class and/or Delta: they give you free movies to watch).
Finally, I want to end with one important tip I learned the hard way. Jet lag is real, and it becomes even more powerful if you decide not to eat anything the day of your flight. You’ll be hungry but also too tired to eat, stuck in an endless loop for about two to three days. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
