XXL Freshman 2018 Wants

XXL has been very controversial as of late ever since 2016 Freshman’s class which had a cypher of Denzel Curry, Lil Yatchy, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, and Kodak Black. Denzel Curry was the one that didn’t fit with the bunch, because of his lyrics which actually were good, but the rest weren’t good, couldn’t stay on beat, or couldn’t understand, because they weren’t clear enough which one would call mumbling. So here are a few wants for this years XXL Freshman Class.

  1. Earthgang This duo is a part of Atlanta’s group known as Spillage Village. They are also signed to J Cole’s record label Dreamville, so he sees something in them that other labels never saw in them, just like he saw in J.I.D., Lute, Bas, Cozz, Ari Lennox, and Omen. They released Rags EP and Robots EP last year under Dreamville Records. So this duo would be great with their new Atlanta lyrical sound on a cypher and to give more of the Dreamville artists more exposure.

  1. Kirk Knight & Nyck Caution These two New York rappers are a part of the collective known as Pro Era. Kirk is a rapper and producer who produced A$AP Ferg’s banger, “Plain Jane.” Nyck Caution is a rapper who’s known for his faster rapping ability out of the rest of Pro Era. Nyck Caution & Kirk Knight released an EP last year called Nyck@Knight which was mainly produced by Kirk Knight. They could add that New York sound to the cyphers which have been missing recently and bring back attention to the New York sound with conscious vibes.

  1. Trippie Redd This rapper has made noise with a style that is very similar to Lil Uzi Vert, but is known for his song with XXXTentacion, “F*ck Love.” He also has songs “Love Scars,” “Romeo & Juliet,” and “Dark Knight Dummo (featuring Travis Scott)” which are all bangers. He also has a tour coming up, The Beautiful & The Damned Tour with G-Eazy and Phora. I feel his vocals would be great for any cypher he’s in.
