This is your official sign to stop doom-scrolling in your free time! For the past two weeks, I've done the impossible and ditched TikTok in favor of making time for my hobbies. It's honestly been so liberating and it's really improved my goldfish attention span.
I genuinely believe that the key to keeping your sanity intact is quality time without any blue light interference. To inspire you to get back to your hobbies, or try out new ones, I wanted to share my latest obsessions and passion projects. I really love learning new things and letting my creativity shine!

Crocheting
I might be reaching grandma status with this, but if crocheting didn't threaten to give me carpal tunnel I'd probably do it all the time. I learned to crochet through YouTube six years ago, and always go back to it when I have free time. It's such a relaxing activity that doesn't take up too much brain power while still being super rewarding.

I'm currently crocheting a giant tapestry (which is starting to look more like a blanket. I think it'll be too heavy to hang on my wall). It's fun but genuinely one of the most time consuming projects I've done. It's a 200 row beast (I have 170 done!) that I started during winter break, so at least 40 hours of blood, sweat, and tears have gone into it. I'm really hoping to finish it by the end of the month, though!
Crocheting is a really fun hobby to pursue, and there are so many great tutorials online. It's also so cool to create something tangible that you can actually use (like sweaters, bags, and hats). I think each project, no matter how big or small, is such an excellent reflection of your hard work!
Baking
Fun fact about me: I used to work at a cooking school! Though, I'm honestly I'm not that good at cooking (even after working there) but I've always really loved baking. There's something so cozy about making fresh sweet treats and then devouring them with your loved ones.

My favorite dessert to make is definitely the classic chocolate chip cookie. I've perfected my recipe over the years (it will be passed down to my future children) and I can make them pretty quickly. I also love experimenting and making challenging dishes. Last weekend I made the viral Dubai chocolate chewy cookies for my sister (she would not stop talking about them for weeks, so I had to put an end to it). She really loved them, but honestly I wasn't the biggest fan because of the chewy marshmallow consistency. It was fun to make though, and I felt like a world class pastry chef (i.e I made a huge mess in the kitchen).
Drawing
I've always loved to draw and took a class in high school that really changed my life. It's hard to explain, but I feel super in tune with myself when I can draw the things I'm visualizing on paper. But for some reason, I stopped drawing altogether a few years ago and haven't touched my sketchbook since.

I went through all my old things last weekend and felt so nostalgic, so I started drawing again! It's a relaxing, low-stress activity and I love using my old drawing pencils and squishy erasers. Even if you're not into drawing, I think art (painting, clay, digital art, even coloring pages) is such a nice thing to add to your routine! It's the perfect way to disconnect from crazy, everyday life and just focus on the moment.

I highly recommend scheduling time for the things you love. You don't have to do anything drastic (like deleting TikTok), but make sure you make time for you! It's just as important as anything else on your to-do list. I hope everyone has a great weekend, see you next week! :)
