Hello all! With International Women’s Day happening on March 8th, I wanted to take a moment to share my experience at Fortinet and WiCyS’ Accelerate Action 2025! This was an event dedicated to amplifying voices, sharing knowledge, and building connections with mid/senior-level peers.
A Day of Inspiration and Growth
One of the most unexpected yet delightful parts of the event was a floral bouquet-making workshop. It was such a relaxing way to start the day while connecting with other attendees. It felt symbolic in a way as everyone had a unique way of building their bouquet. This can be the same as having different journeys on how others go about finding their career.
We then heard from Robyn Benincasa, the keynote speaker, who shared her incredible journey as an adventure racer, firefighter, and leadership expert. Her stories of endurance, resilience, and teamwork in high-stakes environments were nothing short of inspiring. She emphasized the importance of pushing past limits, adapting to challenges, and leading with confidence which are lessons that resonate in the tech industry.
Another highlight was the executive panel discussion where industry leaders
tackled an important topic: how women in tech can overcome hesitation and confidently advocate for themselves. The panelists shared insights on navigating challenges, seizing opportunities, and making sure our voices are heard in the workplace. Their advice served as a reminder that advocating for ourselves isn’t just about personal success, it’s about paving the way for others as well!
Final Thoughts
Accelerate Action 2025 was more than just an event, it was a space for learning, connection, and empowerment. From hands-on creativity to powerful leadership insights, the experience reinforced the importance of community and self-advocacy for women in tech. Being invited to this opportunity as I will be transitioning to a role will be a great help for me as I aim to become an executive for my team!
