My October Language

Hey people! Before I begin this week's blog, I have an exciting announcement: I have a show for UIC Radio! It is called "it came to me in a dream," and is on air from 9-10am on Mondays. The show's central focus is on ambient and slowcore music, two genres that are slowly becoming my favorite. I had my first show on Monday where I showcased "October Language" by Belong. I highly recommend you check them out if you're a fan of ambient music.

To be completely transparent with you all, I have found it difficult to find the motivation to do many things recently, including this blog. I have been going through a long state of dissociation and have not felt like myself. Therefore, this week's blog is going to be a little different. As a kind of grounding exercise, I am going to list some reasons why I love autumn and recognize the small things in life that bring me joy.
The colors of fall: orange, red, yellow, brown
Watching the trees change, a metaphor for life's cycle
Mellow sunlight and the leaves that reflect it
Cornfields and pumpkins
The moonlight peeking through during a foggy night
Halloween, bloody costumes, and brotherhood
Seasonal drinks and treats: my personal favorite is a handmade apple cider donut from an orchard
The breeze on my neck coming through my living room window
Big Lou and warm lighting
Rusty tools and creeks
The ability to wear sweaters and hoodies without sweating profusely
Experiencing an unsaid understanding between two people
The smell of dirt, moss, and mushrooms
My work boots and cowboy boots
My father's jacket
Wood paneling
The intimacy of one's Pinterest boards
Listening to someone talk about something they are passionate about, especially my Papa and friends
Heirlooms
Finding new music or a cool 45 when browsing a record store
punish (demo ii)
Graveyards
Fishing and swimming
Tornadoes and thunderstorms
Remember: love is everywhere.
